This happened to me the other day too. Copilot helped me reformat 4 files, each about 10 lines long, I was too lazy to edit myself. Yeah, you earned that injected text I didn’t ask for Copilot.
A shared volume could help with this but of course every container needs to be on the same version to benefit from deduplication.

Yeah, I’m a developer and my teammates don’t always follow semver standards. I try to but every now and then it’s really hard to know which is the right move. I’ve also had breaks because of minor increments and the author refused to roll back the change because the new behavior was consistent with the spec [that didn’t change].
Great idea. Automatic updates (e.g. Watchtower) make me a little nervous.
Sounds like it would be actively used so I wouldn’t go without a powered adapter or hub. I struggled for months with an external adapter that would work 90% of the time but suddenly unmount at the worst times.
You might also consider linuxbrew as well, depending on your goals. AFAIK it’s almost the same as native but with better separation of dependencies.
im currently using windows 11 on msi gf63 laptop. if i used linux i would use ubuntu,bec it seems like the easiest thing.
Ubuntu is popular but I wouldn’t necessarily say easiest. Something like Linux Mint would probably be simpler.
i game,i use brave browser,i pirate games and software. i also like that my hoarded pirated binaries of games and software will work even years later on windows without too much effort.

Stop using HP printers. That being said if it was made in the last 5 years it’ll probably work on Linux out of the box.
i expect to be able to use the laptop and not think about the os too much,meaning i wont distro hop or try to customize it too much. im fine with the terminal,my goal of using linux is being far from malware.
I’m a big fan of immutable distros like Bazzite and Bluefin. They’re so stable they’re almost boring. As far as malware goes I would say standard rules apply: scan random binaries before execution, run normal operations as non-root/unprivileged users, patch regularly.
I think it’s from proprietary OS makers that want to squash open source competition.
Easy enough to send threatening cease and desist letters to distro maintainers that may not have a penny in savings. This is a huge gift to Apple and Microsoft that probably had enough of Linux hoarding in on their market share.
For pure energy efficiency it’s hard to beat an SBC (raspi, rockpi). Mine does a good job with Jellyfin streaming so long as I avoid transcoding.

I agree it’s a potential drawback for people that like tinkering. It kind of turns your computer into a very flexible gaming console.
As an experienced Linux user I’ll say immutable Fedora (Bazzite) is the most stable OS I’ve ever used. Had to do a rollback maybe once, because of bad pkg layering, which they discourage, never had a pkg conflict on upgrade, everything installs and uninstalls cleanly (with flatpak or brew), and there’s been maybe one, very uncommon, use-case I thought the OS wasn’t up to doing.
I’ve never used Mint but I’m guessing its ease-of-use is mainly due to maintenance and configuration being done largely through the UI. Immutable distros tend to be UI heavy as well because approaching problems the traditional way (through CLI) are more likely to have you edit the read only sections of the filesystem.
Immutable or not I think most casual users will be safe if they don’t use the terminal.
They fucked up by making their robots last seemingly forever, due to the fact they spy on you and get stuck every 15 mins so you never want to turn them on.
What about multiple Pis? Seriously asking. I love having a Pi as a dedicated server (small footprint, low energy, low temp). Do I really need to switch to a more traditional ITX/ATX form factor to get real reliability?
