I’m male but when I was a kid, my mom talked about stranger danger a lot and warned me about the supposed widespread kidnappings (was in China) and warned of “strangers following me home” I constantly just look around and glance back behind me every 30 seconds or so and check if someone is following me… and same thing when in the US too

My parents probably never had a science project when they had school in China, like idk if that’s even a part of their curriculum, they seem to just love to do rote memorization for everything.

Like I just like explain it to them that there’s this weird assignment and they never seem to understand… maybe because of the language barrier between us… idk…

then they put them all up on display for every else to see and then they’d probably laugh at your project and bully you for it.

I had so much anxiety over any “creative” assignments… literally never know what the fuck to do so I just procrastinate on the decision paralysis until I eventually get an F on it.

Especially like for art and stuff… I can’t fucking draw 😭

Tbf, just using the term “American” can sometimes leave out important context. Cuz of white defaultism.

In certain places in the world, the term “American” usually gets the image of a white person in their mind, sometimes black people, but an Asian person is never in their mind. So like, if you are like on the internet, and you don’t say “Asian American”, people usually just assume you look like some white hillbilly in the US south.

If I’m running for office or at a polling place or if, god forbid, ICE shows up, I’m just “American”, but if racial conflict is involved like if Covid and Anti-Asian hate crimes is the topic, then leaving the “Asian” part out of “Asian Americans like me are being targeted in a wave of hate crimes” would result in a meaningless sentence.

It all depends on context.
