The whole thing is disingenuous. The use of “Aspergers” is partly discontinued because of fascist associations. It shouldn’t be surprising that people don’t want to use a classification termed by people who wanted to sort useful autistics from the disposable (as they saw it).

I’m pretty sure I saw this exhibition in Las Vegas. I assumed it was the more famous one when I entered, but the more I saw, the more I realised all the bodies were Chinese. Closer inspection of the promotional material put the clues together.
It was fascinating because human anatomy is cool, but knowing they weren’t voluntary donations really soured the experience.

Compared to newborn marsupials we’re cutie-patooties.
I never heard of xenoparity before, this is fascinating.
Supposedly it only evolved about 5 million years ago, and some colonies still rely on external populations? Nature is constantly finding new ways to undermine our attempts to think we know how shit works.

38·11 个月前I recently saw a vid about these things. Another interesting thing they can do is voluntary decapitation. The head can survive and grow new organs, possibly because photosynthesis gives them the energy to keep going and growing.
Learning that quetzalcoatlus may have moved around like giraffes breaks my brain. They should not be so similar and yet so very different.
I grew up assuming every adult should be self-sufficient, so I learnt all of cooking, cleaning, gardening, basic repairs, home maintenance, sewing, etc. I think the most likely people to have a problem with that never learnt it themselves, so they feel inadequate.
It became an issue in my first serious relationship because she didn’t cook or clean much. She definitely never tried to nurture so much as a plant. I had no problem with that because I could, but she started to feel less feminine, and eventually turned it around on me. The guys she left me for were completely useless, but they didn’t highlight her insecurities so she was happy. At least for a short while.
People who are confident in their identity and abilities don’t do this, and that’s who you want to find anyway, regardless of gender.
Weird. Have they seen how much you can provide from a garden?
Also, having a garden doesn’t preclude one from hunting… whatever that means in the modern era. You can only eat so much meat.
Or just the size of the largest input?
Yeah it could get rough. The problem was mainly one kid who wanted to spear tackle everyone.
Early 90’s. It started out as tag, but we thought tackling would be more fun.
I went to school in a few towns, but I only recall playing this in Armidale, NSW.
Everyone runs across the field together, while one person tries to tag as many people as they can. If you’re tagged then you are also a tagger in the next round. Repeat until one person is left, who starts the next game.
We were actually banned from playing this because we preferred to tackle instead of tagging. Nobody got seriously hurt, but the teachers thought it was only a matter of time.
You might want to check out Bazzite. It aims to smooth out the gaming experience significantly.
I don’t even play on Linux these days but I use Bazzite (Developer Experience) because the immutable base gives me peace of mind and all the gaming support helps when I have to use something like bottles.
Depending on what you want to do, it may require you to get comfortable with docker (or podman, but practically the same), but because this is part of the OS’s paradigm they give you all the tools to make it easy.
“I’m a charm in the streets, and a strange in the sheets.”
The broccoli and broccolini in my garden have grown so big it’s hard to keep up. This means I’ll sometimes eat bits that have begun flowering. I haven’t noticed much difference in the taste.
Aussie fruit bats (or flying foxes) are huge. I’ve almost walked into one at night while it was hanging from a tree and monching on the flowers. It was just as startled as me, and when those wings unfurled it just about blocked the path.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever been present for the moment that a "trailer queen" type of show car got driven for real?
5·1 年前Ah, Summernats. I used to work at a servo in Canberra. That time of year was nuts.
Usually I was the only staff on site, but we’d have four staff on for nats. One would basically be handling the car wash exclusively. Two would be constantly restocking food and drinks. We’d get a shipping container of extra stock dropped off to keep up.
The bus home would have to go through a cloud of tyre smoke, and half the passengers would get off at the north side brothels and strip joints.
I never actually went to the festival itself, but I feel like I got most of the experience.

Cookers love their flag symbology, so it’s no surprise they’re all over this.
