With the growing number of users jumping from Windows to Linux, I decided to fully take the plunge and dive deep into the Open Source ocean. A few months and several headaches later, it has proved to be the best computer-related decision I've made in over a decade (and perhaps in my entire life).
Since you are this new of a user linux mint might be better for you… Or even Fedora because it’s less resource intensive especially the Cosmic version https://fedoraproject.org/spins/cosmic
So I tried tonight. With the version you suggested. The steps are easy. Unfortunately the laptop did not boot. I got the error described here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/11r7gi8/fedora_media_check_fails_at_48_every_time_during/
I will try again with the suggested solution. Pity the writer tool does not warn of this.
In addition Mint comes with it’s app store which is Flatpak based unlike Ubuntu s which is Snap based, flatpak is faster and just better. (Fedora might have one too but idk never tried it) Also a very good browser for linux is Firedragon i recommend giving it a try :)
