When the internet was pretty fresh, lots of people (like my IT) teacher told me over and over: don’t use your name, don’t tell anyone your adress, use a spoof email adress if unsure etc. That waa so embedded in my mind that i never really thought about it. I never really used social media, but some people were all over facebook and told me i HAVE to get on. I gave it a go and they asked for my phone number. I thought: what? No one is gonna be so dumb to enter a phone number into a website, holy shit. Turns out that it juat became the norm. So i wouldn’t be surprised if people would just do that in a heartbeat
