I have the latest Framework 13 and I had a ThinkPad before this. I can recommend either of them. The Framework is one of my favorite computers I’ve had, but it’s not cheap. You will save some money if you ever have to make repairs, but I don’t know how the TCO works out for upgrades. It’s more about empowerment and reducing waste though.
Linux runs fine on both the Framework and the ThinkPad. You can pretty much just take your pick of distros and they should work, although you may want to stick with one of the more up to date distros on Framework because it has new hardware. Fedora, Arch-based, Tumbleweed all work well.
I would love to not pay property taxes. The problems cited in the article are real. But where do they plan to get the revenue from? It has to come from somewhere, and how do we know it won’t be worse than property taxes? They need to tell us the rest of the plan. Municipalities rely on that revenue. I’m concerned DeSantis is doing this to exert control over counties and cities he doesn’t like. I don’t want to live in a place with crumbling infrastructure and no money for schools just because little Napoleon DeSantis doesn’t like the local policies residents voted for. It’s become impossible to take anything he says at face value.
