Made exactly the same experience. Dumped the map plugin and using memories now, to geo tag and re-import photos to my existing local photo manager. I might even transfer the whole bunch of photos¹ from local storage to NC. Which will be a good reason to get rid of all tha external drive and SAN-based crap in the house and replace it by fiber and a proper NAS.

¹ 20+ years worth of them, I basically shut down my darkroom and analog lab when digicams became available to common mortals. The bastards who stole my Minolta, my Fujica and the case with most of my lenses, flashes etc. made the decision to go digital a lot easier for me.

If you can’t kill it or fuck it then eat it. It’s that easy.

Not only do I have four different kinds of USB-cables clogging up my drawers, now I also have two visibly different kinds of the “unified” new standard plus at least three nominally identical but electrically different kinds that will fuck up some devices’ recharging and some devices’ communication functions. FUCK YOU, INDUSTRY GROUPS! I’ll plead for mandatory ISO standards for fucking EVERYTHING and the death penalty for anyone even critizing standardization. I don’t see any other way to clean up this bloody mess. I’ll go and found a fucking homicidal global standartising terror group! With dirty bombs and hookers! Wait for my gofundme…
