Several environmental groups have called for the bill to be stopped but fishing companies say it helps modernise a system that has worked well for decades.
Companies by their own nature are profit seeking above everything else, so I trust them to do anything in their power to deliver profits to the shareholders. I don’t trust them not to rape the oceans to death.
Things like bottom trawling are a bit fucked… It’s literally scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to our fish stocks.
Weird when experts say we can give fishing areas less than a decade of rest and they can bounce back provided they aren’t totally destroyed… But fish stock preservation isn’t in the companies interests.
