My submission went in an hour ago
Fuck the Labor Party and fuck ableists who think they understand this system and what those supports do for disabled people.
We never had a cost on what basically used to be done at their own expense by carers and parents, usually the same thing. Or by abusive state and church systems.
We do now, it’s expensive. What’s our point if we can’t help our most vulnerable.
Any Labor insiders here? Which MP was it spewing in the bin after Butler rolled this shit out? Fuck their party, its caucus and lack of spine
I think there’s been something like a 40% increase in funding per participant from 42k p/a to 62k p/a in 5 years. It’s also forecast to be third largest federal expenditure outside of funding states and senior support. Support needs to be sustainable.
Support needs to be sustainable
We literally blew five times the NDIS on subsidies for companies that don’t even recompense us properly for the value they extract.
We accidentally dropped a shitton of drones into the harbour and wrote it off. Those displays are around $50,000 per show
We can afford to take care of our own.
We’re a wealthy country, it’s sustainable. When we’re so wealthy, fuck the ableist accounting of sustainable. Drag the abacus out for gas companies.
Funny how ‘sustainable’ only ever comes from those not involved with it. It’s generally followed by ‘well as a taxpayer…’, that one coming next?
Like I said, we’re just learning what it truly costs to give disabled people a decent quality of life. If we can’t spend it, what’s our point?
I do work around the edges of it, so I know the ridiculous cost of some things. I also know the ridiculous amount of people that consistently apply. I know some of the individual plans are absolutely astronomical and there’s plenty who need support to maximize independence that don’t receive it. Blindy waving a hand saying we can afford it when it’s up against exponential growth is also not helpful. Mentioning about taxing gas companies is irrelevant in this current setting. But yes, of course there should be a significant resource tax that benefits the country
What your describing is an overbilling scheme, and corruption is not a valid reason to claim budget issues

This isn’t a simple “over billing scheme” .
Wow. A divide that large takes some extra special delusion and mishandling
I do work around the edges of it
Well, that could be a cleaner engaged by Maid2Match cleaning clients houses.
If you have genuine experience with the scheme, you should know that most of the issues are still around fraudulent providers and external pressure on carers and self plan managers, which this government was well underway to solving. I know that myself as a plan manager; I could have racked up thousands of dollars in dodgy invoices under the Coalition. Shorten tightened that well.
50% cuts to social and community participation budgets will kill people, you should know that too. Cancelling the right of review is a dogshit move. Putting the minister in a position where they can cancel plans without review is fraught with issues.
The ridiculous amount…
Yes. Like I said, we’re only now finding out what it costs to equalise living standards for disabled people. Any alternative services that are adequate or half decent don’t exist. The NDIS is the option. From my recollection it was meant to fill these gaps. This assumption that it was only ‘for our most severely disabled’ Is an assumption, leant on to justify cuts.
This government or any other doesn’t have anything remotely suitable, to transition people to. 200 million for associated services is nothing. Back to inadequate church based volunteer and state services; one of the things this scheme was built to stop.
We have enough money. More than enough.
plenty who need support that don’t have it
And they should; that’s what we built this for. Until such times as other services stand, the NDIS is their only service.
mentioning about taxing gas companies
Is absolutely relevant when ‘sustainability’ is mentioned. So is mentioning tax cuts and developer giveaways, which I left out until now. As Konrad Benjamin pointed out, ‘we’ll be asked to tighten our belts…’ it’s very relevant.
On that, these cuts will return a loss of jobs in the industry, so what the government might save by killing off a couple of moderately or severely impaired people, it’ll lose at least some in jobs and businesses.
Sienna has cerebral palsy and a number of comorbidities. She cannot talk, she cannot sit unassisted, she is fed through a tube, she is incontinent. She has two types of lung disease and is on oxygen 24/7.
This feels quite frankly evil, why are you keeping this person alive :| we wouldn’t treat even a dog like this
By your logic we should have let all those polio afflicted kids in iron lungs die too. Fucken gross man. Keep that dehumanising shit to yourself.
In April 2024, Sienna received a support plan in which the NDIA proposed cutting her plan by more than $500,000 a year.
The cost of the NDIS is astronomical and you have these parents complaining about a plan to reduce costs, by training and providing cheaper full time support workers.
The parents themselves learnt how to do the simple task of draining lung fluid build up. There is no reason support workers can’t receive the same training and as a result, cost far less than RNs would.
That’s a $500k cost that can’t go towards other NDIS recipients because they need only the highest qualified nurses to perform a basic task every 5-10 minutes for the rest of this child’s life.
Ridiculous selfish bullshit.
Thing is they knew how much the ndis would cost, this whole saving the ndis for future generations is bullshit. (And it sounds like eugenics). They have money for subsidies for mining magnates, they have billions for submarines we’ll never see, scrap capital gains and negative gearing, nope, they start with the disabled.
This is a pattern you see in fascism. They’re doing the same things the US is doing. They’re eroding our social services, and they’ve been chipping away at it with a sledgehammer for a while now.
They don’t need to be doing this at all. There was no surprise number of applicants. They had all the data, they’re just trying to see what they can get away with. It’s literally impossible to defraud the ndis as an applicant. It takes multiple specialist reports, all costing thousands each, to even get considered for funding. You have to pay to be able to access the ndis. And they’re about to make it even harder.
scrap capital gains
They literally just did this, they just grandfathered existing investments in.
The rest is whataboutism and is irrelevant. The NDIS costs a colossal amount of money. Recognising that NDIS spending can be optimised to provide fairer support with lower costs isn’t remotely close to eugenics.
Labor literally set up the NDIS so what the fuck are you talking about ending social services for?
If Labor didn’t want the NDIS they would never have made it.
Oh. Yeah. Wow. OK. Theres a place you can upload submissions to the bill that’s proposed, probably the first place to go, would be listening to the disabled community talk about how it’s going to affect them, go and have a read. They only gave us 2 weeks, to respond, it’s usually 30 days.
Why does it seem like eugenics. Cutting services to disabled people, instead of experts in the field, or people who know, it’s politicians deciding, who do you think will be disproportionately represented in the 160,000 people who are already deemed to have life effecting disabilities, but now according to a politician, nope they don’t.
Within this bill, avenues to appeal are removed, whichever politician is in charge at the time, can choose to cut funding entirely to whole swathes of funding, with no discussion, no warning, just cut. Parental responsibilities are lengthened to the extent parents will get no help even if caring for their disabled children is beyond the human capacity of any one person. Currently it’s already proportionately too heavy on parents. Do you remember the parents who killed themselves and their disabled children? That’s what happens when you remove services and help a community should provide it’s most vulnerable. Now that there’s no help so parents can work, who takes up the cost of the homelessness this will cause, now parents can’t afford their rent. I could go on. This bill causes huge cuts to essential services that aren’t offering a lavish lifestyle Currently. These cuts are also to people with jobs working to help disabled people, who are now going to be jobless. What happens when they now can’t afford rent. There’s so much more, these pass costs onto other places, it doesn’t save money. If money is more important than lives, you have your priorities wrong. This will cost lives. This will be the new robodebt. It’s bad policy.
Is the ndis overinflated, yes, does it need cuts, and reform, yes.
The ndis is a privatised system. There used to be a public system, somewhat, but that has been cut and defended, that is what they’re trying to shuffle people onto. That would be an avenue to actually push down prices, building up the public system again so you would essentially cut all the overinflation a privatised system creates. That way all those jobs that will be cut, with this proposed bill, would just move to a different building with controllable overheads.
Cut from the administration. Currently they pay lawyers a ridiculous amount of money to gatekeep services. Here’s how that works, the ndis requires certain reports (that Currently cost the disabled community thousands to aquire) just to be eligible for help from the ndis. The ndis receive these reports, that they say are what is needed to acquire the necessary help, they then reject your claim. The only avenue is to appeal, bam lawyer costs, when they could have spent less just approving the pittance this person was asking for. The ndis does not provide a lavish lifestyle, it doesn’t even meet all the basics. So people with disabilities are out there trapped in their homes without essential needs. Already. Before these new cuts that take a sledgehammer to services available for disabled people.
Maybe it’s not sustainable, the essential services to people in need aren’t the first place to make cuts.
Labor have been destroying the ndis for a while now. They do bare minimum, then trash it. They’ve trashed Medicare too. Labor are very right wing now. They aren’t centrist, any longer. But they still pretend they aren’t cutting things to the bone, in the right wing controlled media.
Places like this are a representation that spaces have been occupied, and they are manipulated and manipulating the narrative to fascism. Very obviously with reddit, and twitter, why do people think the billionaires who control the news and media are any less extreme? I would suggest you might not know what’s really happening behind the scenes.
