Twitter Lists [are very useful for this], because for all its flaws Twitter is still where the journalists hang out and remains a great place for staying on top of the news if you can figure out how to cut through all the bullshit.
Nope. Lost me at Twitter/X.
Just get an RSS reader. Theres a plethora of podcast players, and theres Masto, Bluesky, and substack and much more.
If a journalist is limiting themselves to only Twitter/X after all that has happened then they’re not worth listening to because they don’t understand the effective outcome of the last ten years of social upheaval.
I believe she is directing the information to people who are users of X and other mainstream media. I am sure she is not limiting herself to just X. She is on Substack as well as other mass social media. I use her email mailing list.
I find information through her that I do not find elsewhere. I respect her greatly. She has the courage and integrity.
Wasn’t talking about C.Johnstone. I was responding to her article. The article was about building lists on twitter/x which I’m saying is unnecessary and implicitly endorses people carry on using twitter/x which know one that believes in free and fair access to information should be doing.
Edit: Sorry arbilp3, I really could have written that in a less terse way. It just confounds and disappoints me that anyone who ostensibly takes themselves seriously is still talking about using Twitter/X. I suppose the lock in of status quo and network effects is why clearly detrimental oligarchs are allowed to grow so powerful.
I agree about not using X, but for writers/journos/commentators etc who want to get their message through to as many people as possible, it’s only logical that they go to the most popular media no matter how nasty it is. If they only wrote in social media like Lemmy they’d be speaking mostly to the converted and to a much, much smaller cohort.
So, we need to grow Lemmy, right?

Probably Mastodon in this case, since it’s more of a Twitter alternative, but it’s all fediverse!
It’s all very new to me. I started seriously using social media only about 4 yrs ago. That was Fb and I was kicked off that probably because of my political ideas though they fabricated some other excuse. Then I came to HERE! I’m still a beginner.
