The bill addressed what federal and state officials have long said can be a source of confusion for consumers: when to toss out aging food products. In the United States, there are roughly 50 variations of date labels.
That’s wildly anti-consumer. If a product needs date information, it should be expressed in a common format like nutrition facts.
A use by date would be more useful.
That might depend on how it was stored. Perhaps there should be a “donate by:”
