I’m looking to replace my MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 32GB of RAM with a GNU/Linux laptop. I’ve found the Dell Precision 5690 – 32GB – Intel Ultra 7 165H. What do you think?
Don’t buy Intel chips, Intel is on the BDS list. So is Dell, actually.
what is the bds list?

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions Movement has a list of companies that are financially tied up with the genocidal Zionist entity, which you should boycott.
You could use Asahi Linux if you’d rather not spend more money! Pretty good in my experience with an M1 13” MacBook Pro
I did consider Asahi Linux, but the support isn’t comprehensive – particularly when it comes to display via USB-C, which I need because I mostly use my MacBook Pro with the lid closed, connected to a dock and two external monitors.
If you are willing, there is an experimental branch with usb-c display support, although from what I hear it does work somewhat well
I second the recommendation for running Asahi on your MacBook. I’ve been running it for years and it’s great. The hardware support isn’t perfect (Apple has nicer trackpad drivers for their hardware), but it’s like still very good.
I’d go Lenovo over Dell
If you don’t want the M1 anymore, I’ve been wanting to give Asahi a try…
It’s a French keyboard (AZERTY) – not sure if that’ll suit you?
About to sell mine if you’re interested.
