I know a lot of people with two car households; one 4WD Ute for camping and towing and one EV for more mundane local tasks.
I am single and don’t have the luxury of a second car.
If I want to go bike touring, mountain biking or just hiking, I need an ICE vehicle to get me to the beginning of my adventure.
I also like 4WDing and borrowing a 4WD that may get damaged on the trail is not a great idea.
Your second car is the rental that you hire three times a year for the rare occasions where you need more space to move a sofa or actually tow something or whatever. It’s much cheaper to hire a special vehicle for special occasions than to waste petrol every day to push 3 tons of excess 4WD on your daily commute.

1000%
Its ridiculous seeing the same 4wd touring utes stuck in traffic each day.
Maxtracks, highlift jacks, rooftop tents & one person driving - to work.
That is why I drive a 1 tonne 4WD :)
