got a great deal at an estate sale, i9-9900k, 32gb ddr4, rtx 2070 for $350.

I started with debian but unfortunately it’s an Nvidia card. the big thing I want to try with this thing is emulating bloodborne, and maybe local AI models so performance is key.

will I be fine with debian or are the packages just too old?

edit: lmao debian wouldn’t boot or even successfully launch the terminal in recovery mode after installing the nvidia drivers so fuck that I switched to kubuntu since it’s what I have experience with it worked as expected beep boop bop. thank you for your suggestions everyone!

this is my first time with a prebuilt and it’s weird working with someone else’s HW choices. ugh the RAM rgb can’t be switched off I might try to mod it.

I like NixOS but there’s a large amount of stuff to learn if you pick that distro. I don’t know what the best entry-level distros nowadays are but I would pick Fedora over Debian since it’s more modern, the immutable distros like Bazzite are also worth looking at but I have no experience with them
