An unfortunate consequence of the existence of these birds in Australia is that many (most?) people confuse them with the native noisy miner and treat that species really badly.
How do you confuse them? They aren’t even the same colour
Myna and miner sound the same, so people just assume they are all the same invasive species. Noisy miners are also very aggressive, territorial birds so these same people assume this is the problematic invasive species they’ve heard about in passing.
Ms Dent has also spotted a pigeon getting on and off a train in Sydney, leaving some unsightly evidence of its behind.
I’m hoping that wasn’t a typo, because LOL.
