Almost 100 whistleblower tip-offs claim dodgy operators are rorting a multi-billion-dollar taxpayer-funded solar battery program by mocking up installs, forging signatures and using unlicensed tradies for cash jobs.

Allegations of fraud and misconduct have been revealed in tip-offs sent to the federal watchdog overseeing the Cheaper Home Batteries Program.

The untested claims were obtained by the ABC through a Freedom of Information request.

Shadow Minister for Energy Dan Tehan is calling for an independent Senate inquiry into the revelations.

      They need to be prosecuted.

      The contracts and agreements need to be watertight.

      They won’t be because they are probably the same scam artists running NDIS scams and running for local council.
