Since the federal government is deeply corrupted, we have to rely on—get this—Florida, whose attorney general James Uthmeier filed for an emergency injunction against OpenAI, on the grounds that they cannot control their own products.

    Good Florida Man.

OpenAI did not pay to subvert the paywall of the Times, at which point their data-scraping operation might be more easily detected. Instead, they developed a way to circumvent the paywall and avoid detection. And when Greg Brockman, OpenAI’s co-founder and president, was told about this maneuver, he replied, “ah nice.”

Nice. Can we publish this publicly, then?

Respect for the law could literally be written into the source code of a model: If OpenAI is aggressively downloading data from everywhere, the least they could do is drop in the U.S. Code (particularly the section tied to the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act) and train the model not to violate it.

Eh, idk. I read that these big US AI companies actually were respecting robots.txt and identifying with a well defined clear User-Agent. So they were easy to rate limit or block.

    China-based IPs, however…

And yet most of you couldn’t even be arsed to take a step against a criminal convicted rapist to be elected as your president.

Sorry but that “most of us don’t” argument falls short when you don’t even do your basic civic duties to get rid of criminals.

You have used “arse” and “fuck ye” but whatever.

I’ve looked through your comments and we have more in common than not.

If you don’t understand that our government is occupied and we have been in a confirmed oligarchy for over a decade, then stop shitting on all Americans, please

I don’t give a damn about your govt being occupied. You had a chance of NOT electing a confirmed kid diddler rapist racist piece of shit, but you didn’t because “Kamala won’t say Israel bad”. That’s on you, period.

            This shithouse argument again.

They’re right, and they know more than you think. Especially when 30% of your voter base prove it every election.

The other option is starving and then being shot by the most militarized police force in the world, while nothing actually changes.

True, but also you can’t do anything if you’re dead, and these fucks are not the most competent, but they are violent and willing to cut off their own nose to spite their face.

They would totally kill their own work force, thinking they could just replace them, until there’s no one left. And further, they have the guns and bodies to do it.

What are you talking about? They are replacing their workforce with ai. Not that it’s really working out for them but they are deffo doing it.

Voter turnout was abysmal. 64.3%. Less than 2/3 of the country bothered to even vote.

Don’t tell me that people voted when a third of those with the right to vote didn’t bother to go and fill a fucking ballot.

The very article you quoted accounts for ~10 million votes.

The remaining 34% who didn’t vote is approximately 80 million people.

So we’re still at a point where 70 million where content with whatever happened. 70 million didn’t even bother to stand up and cast their votes.

(oh, and that’s not accounting for the shift the voter suppression would cause in the count of “eligible for voting” people).

Yeah. It’s an excuse you use, like a few others

Ones you don’t afford countries that genuinely have voter suppression

    It’s a question of liability.

    OpenAI wants zero liability.

But clearly the answer is a non-zero value. I don’t see how they aren’t 100% liable when it’s their employees who execute the process.

They are starting and running their own machinery. The industry likes to pretend software is some intangible but as hardware prices have demonstrated, software is very much physical. And it’s not narrative, it’s instructive.

Large AI companies know their tools are dangerous, and are shouting it from rooftop.

Knowing that, they keep developing them, and ran agents with little supervision, insufficient sandboxing, and ended up attacking third parties.

      I hope there’s liability.
