"LinkedIn’s latest Job Search Safety Pulse report has found Australians are more vulnerable to recruitment scams than ever.

Nearly half of the people surveyed for that report said they would take risks when applying for jobs due to ongoing cost-of-living pressures.

More than a third said they would be more likely to let their guard down.

Questioning whether a job is “actually real” has also become a routine part of the job search, according to the LinkedIn report.

The same report found 61 per cent of Australians had seen a job ad that they suspected was fraudulent and 27 per cent have come close to falling for one.

Around 16 per cent of the respondents said they had fallen victim to job scams.

For younger gen Z jobseekers, born between 1997 and 2012, employment scam victim percentages rose to 25 per cent."

CES did nothing but good. My own experience…

when I was a teen CES gave me a grant to run summer holiday youth activities in my old home town

and they got me my first real job in a federal gov, I landed two at the same time but I chose the better one!

What I really miss is the public service exam, which was basically a literacy and numeracy test that you had to take in person. If we had that now it would cut out so much bs

Lol, I did that exam. You’ve reminded of an event that was well and truly hidden in the attic of my mind.

I’ve wondered whether one of the reasons why they got rid of the CES was because Australia had high unemployment and the govt didn’t want to be seen as responsible for not finding people jobs. Easier to blame it on abstract words like ‘the economy’, ‘recession’, ‘inflation’ and so on.
