The $94.3 million, “high-visibility, intelligence-led” Armed Response Command (ARC), which was officially launched on Sunday, was among a range of reforms introduced by the NSW government after the Bondi Beach terror attack on 14 December 2025.

It’s just one unit, a terrorist response unit, not all everyday cops.

and it would be expected a unit that is only activated in an active terrorist attack would be so armed

intimidation does not work on many terrorists as they expect to die any way

but a rifle might give a sniper a better chance to save lives

We have response units, they are rarely out and about like this for a reason.

This isn’t stopping another attack from occurring because it has to be at the right place at the right time.

We don’t need this additional unit, anywhere in Australia. It’s a bad path to be following.

Pistols are also kinda shit weapons, they’re good cos they’re small. A scoped long arm is more accurate and controllable.
