    Man, I kind of hate the stock market. Apparently, everyone just assumes that the guy was doing illegal things, and only because there’s now a chance that someone might actually check, that’s why we stop giving him money to fund that.

    Criminal = invest
    Criminal + law enforcement = pull out

      Tbh I see it more as a strategic play. The AI bubble was gonna burst and everybody who was paying attention could tell. So AI folks made a calculated gamble to prop the bubble up until midterms. Now they allow it to crash, blame Democrats, get the GOP back into power, and it’s back to deregulation and allowing AI to get away with whatever crimes they want.

      There should be a rule that shareholders get fined as well whenever a company they invested in gets fined for breaking the law. Then maybe investors will be a bit more responsible in deciding who to invest in.

      Own 0.0001% of the company shares? Pay 0.0001% of that 250 million dollar fine.

        I mean, they already do that in a way, because their stocks lose value when the company loses money. That’s why everyone and their hamster is selling off these stocks now.

        But sure, making the investors pay another time or just generally increasing fines could help.
        Unfortunately, companies then lobby for Nazis to take over government to undo these increased fines + abolish law enforcement for themselves, so that’s not terribly ideal either…
