I enjoy taking walks and am pretty lucky that there a numerous parks nearby where I can take nice long stroll. All of them have trash bins at the parking lots which are convenient for poo bags, drink bottles, snack wrappers etc. The problem is that they are all full all the time because people use them to dump their personal garbage. I have even seen appliances and car seats and such sitting next to them. Of course the council empties them once a week but sure enough the next day they are full again.

Maybe I ought to be grateful because many people seem to just ignore the bins and throw their trash all over the park too.

I really wish they would put cameras or something to discourage this kind of thing.

Here in Southern California parks have several dumpsters because people dump loads of stuff. Lots of people buy passes to the parks just to use the dumpsters.

They really should put dumpsters in the neighbourhoods for people to deposit their trash. Would make collection a lot easier.

Then again people would probably just dump it on the street then.

I’m from EU and over here depressed people sometimes use the bins in parks and on playgrounds when they are mentally unable to follow our strict recycling rules. For example, instead of bringing glass or styrofoam to designated recycling locations a few blocks away, they take small portions of it with them on their way to work (sometimes wrapped somehow to conceal what it is) and dump it in the bins while passing by.

Most of our rules don’t apply to these bins. Still, we’re not supposed to put things like batteries in.

I am not talking about recyclables. I am talking about household trash. We have to pay to have our trash hauled so people are instead driving down to the park to dispose of their trash.
