Hello there,
I just want to buy a new gaming system, laptop, because I want to be mobile. There is only one game I cant give up that is league of legends. So I’m searching a manufactor, which can handle dual boot perfectly. I mean everytime I boot into windows and want to reboot into linux again, so my entry is gone (refind, systems and grub). Maybe there is a brand which separate two OS Hardware wise or has a BIOS espacially for such a case?
So use one for Windows and one for Linux. Problem solved, IMO.
No, Windows still erases my linux entry and that get me on nerve. It bypass my refind boot manager and boots directly into Windows. I have to remove Windows drive to boot into refind again
I am unfamiliar with refind, but from my experience with systemd & grub dual boot, if you do not change your boot order in bios, there is a high chance that the windows boot manager will brick your Linux one, even across drives. My advice for dual booting is to ditch the convenience of using one boot manager. But once again, this may not be an issue you have.
I use refind also, there should be a setting somewhere to let refind scan entries from other EFI partitions. I have that setup and just created a second EFI partition for my Linux setup, so that Windows has no idea Linux even exists. I even have everything running off of the same drive (my laptop only has one nvme slot) and I haven’t had any issues.
Even when you change the boot order in the BIOS?
Yes! Everytime my UEFI (sorry previous posters: I have UEFI) set my boot order to Windows Boot manager after booting into Windows. Why is Windows so penetrant?
Yeah, I don’t think that’s supposed to happen. I’ve never heard of that before, but I can see that people on Windows have reported it happening, like this Microsoft help question; you may want to check that (and similar questions) out?
Sorry I can’t help more. I hope you find a solution soon.
No Problem! Thank you anyway
