I felt every word. It’s been about twice as long for me since I quit but it sounds like we were living the same life. Over a decade of boozebaggery. Resorted to mouthwash many times. Liver disease by the age of 28. 2 DUIs, numerous lost jobs, failed relationships.

I’m very fortunate to have had the support I did. If youre in that boat we were, you can get out. It’s hard. Incredibly hard, at times. But one day at a time you just keep getting through, and eventually those days really add up.

There’s nothing romantic about drinking yourself to death. I watched my mom do it. It’s a horrible way to die.

And life can be so much better.
