I do Plex with ProtonVPN for downloads. You can allow Plex to get out to your local network on Linux even if you have a VPN

I once saw this random post and it said to always keep your hands busy when you’re going somewhere and it was super good advice. Stuff usually needs to be moved/thrown away/put away and doing it bit by bit when you are already moving around is not only less intimidating but also leaves you with a lil sense of accomplishment
