Well if seldom seen is the criteria, why not Fairy tern? only 40 left, and they are sea birds, so not many chances to see one!
Admin of LemmyNZ and PieFedNZ. @Dave@piefed.nz and @Hal@piefed.nz are also me.

I’m an undecided voter, gonna try to sell them to me? What do you like about those two in particular?

Voting happens here: https://www.birdoftheyear.org.nz/#voting
Anyone got a favourite or one they want to campaign for, try to pull in some extra votes?

Oh no! Quick, go do it now!
I posted another reminder post about 10 days back, and got another bunch of responses. I think we are at a similar level of LemmyNZ users as previous years now. I actually closed the survey earlier today, it’s been about a week since the last response. So now the work begins!

Haha I was also a little surprised. But I’ve also seen unfunded drugs and that price isn’t unusual. But surely MDMA isn’t under patent.
I guess it’s because it cost these two docs a fortune to get it approved?

Haha well it works on my phone but I couldn’t shake my laptop enough to create the effect.
Yes but this depends significantly on where you live.
Sure. Any driving you do increases your risk of death. But it’s likely you need to drive for other reasons that reduce your risk of death (like buying food).
Drinking is different because no one needs to drink.

It’s brilliant. The more multinational consultants get media attention about writing inaccurate reports with AI, the less AI they will want to use.
Yeah for sure. You could smell the change in those two as soon as it was election year.
Yeah Opportunity fall under the Radical centrism umbrella, which that wikipedia page actually has them listed. It’s basically what you said, they have big ideas (radical) but are very pragmatic, will work with anyone (centrism) to move things in the right direction. This is opposed to the idealists Greens or Act which stand on their side so don’t get as many opportunities to progress any of their policies.
The more I think about it, the more I think Luxon’s lack of political experience is a problem for National. And perhaps their advisors aren’t so good either.
Ruling out working with Opportunity based on one policy he doesn’t like shows a complete lack of understanding of how a multi-party government works. Say you won’t agree to the land tax but will try to find common ground in another area?
I get he was trying to stop National voters from going for Opportunity in the hope of a National/Opportunity party, but it still seemed like the wrong call.
I would be so happy to have Winnie no longer the kingmaker.

It’s super interesting comparing the thumbnail to the full sized picture. Somehow the thumbnail seems higher resolution.

It’s intended to be racist. It’s off the back of the Act stuff about immigrants taking too much and stripping areas bare, but we already have other tools to deal with this other than a blanket 10 limit on any kind of shellfish.
You can tell it’s intended to be racist because Act are the party of no government interference. They want no regulations and last election literally campaigned (publicly but quietly) on removing any and all building regulations.
Any time they propose adding to regulation you know the intent is to attack a specific group of non-white (or non-cis male) people.

“Vote for us, and we will undo an increase we put in place last time we were in government” is an odd promise to make. Do you have a plan or are you making it up as you go?
Wow, that’s an amazing view!
Oh damn, I hope the blast radius wasn’t too wide?
I’m currently in government where we aren’t allowed to run our own stuff, everything new has to be cloud services.
