Google deleted a guys entire account for having pictures of his own son in the pool. Google also deleted a colleague’s master thesis because he allegedly had a pirated book in his Google Drive - he owned the book, we have local stores that sell .epubs.
Now Microsoft deleted a LibreOffice’s developer account.
Do you know what all of these examples have in common? Appealing doesn’t work, “your” files were never yours if you give up control to a corporation, US big tech can’t be trusted.
You don’t have to go fully libre software (though maybe you should!) but at the very least use software that isn’t taking your content hostage: have local copies, only accept local copies that are automated and using open formats.
What’s with the recent influx of posts against higher education, or more in general, anti-education posts?
Can you imagine the absolute nightmare that the digital world will become once major infrastructure and every other app is poisoned by AI codebases filled with vulnerabilities and nightmare convoluted setups to do basic things?
Have you even seen what Claude does, randomly, if you tell it a simple bug fix you requested didn’t work? I’ve seen it simply say “Oh, sorry, let’s try something else” and start rewriting everything - from top to bottom - trying to fit previous code in it’s limited context window so it ends up generating this abhorrent mix of code segments that do nothing but look important, fragments of the original code base, and a lot of new code that doesn’t even fix the issue in the first place.
