  • Here’s my out-there take on consciousness:
Picture a surface of incredibly high but stable energies, like the one on a pulsar. Now imagine that those energies manage to shake a fundamental consciousness field hard enough at a large enough scale, that virtual consciousness and anti-consciousness pairs constantly bubble in and out of existence.

  • But in this context, it’s about the loss of information, getting scrambled inside a black hole and then VERY slowly radiating back into space as gibberish.
It’s a point where thermodynamics, entropy, Relativity and the quantum realm create a paradox - classical physics states that information supposedly cannot be destroyed… and yet in this extreme environment, it IS destroyed.

  • It bears mentioning that none of this would have been necessary if people have gone out and VOTED in numbers like these.

Instead they first passively threw a tantrum enabling this Gestapo, now their country is a global pariah, not to be trusted again, while expending so much more energy, experiencing much more inconvenience and risk than voting, just to send a symbolic message to sociopaths who have the power, enjoy abusing it, and do NOT care to listen.

Which is to say: this is meaningless, voting is everything and you blew it yet again. But people insist on wanting to be inspired by one godking figurehead, refusing to understand how consistently voting just one day a year, in presidentials, midterms and off-years, is how political momentum is built or eroded, how a government is not one godking president, but an entire system with hundreds of thousands of civil servants, elected, appointed and hired, at every level of government, momentum builds slowly.

If Democrats ever win again, it will be with one hand tied behind their back, facing right-wing sabotage every step of the way, just as has happened every time since Jimmy Carter, and if they can’t wave a magic political wand and fix this unfixable mess in one go, the oh-so-precious impatient electorate is going to throw yet another destructive tantrum and back to square minus five or worse.

  • You can go read the Wikipedia article if you want to understand “that” part… I guess, idk, go fuck yourself!!!

Some YouTube math video about lambda calculus, the asshole casually said “you can check the Wikipedia article” on an aspect that didn’t fit inside his 10-minute video. As if Wikipedia didn’t frustrate even professional mathematicians themselves, with the obtuse exposition and a thousand notations and citations.

Fortunately, there are other math educators on YouTube.
On the topic of lambda calculus, search for this title:
    PLUS times PLUS

It’s wild stuff! It’s as if like math is like a shirt, and lambda calculus pulls one arm inside out, there are some weird logical seams in math when you use different tools with the same numbers.

  • Remember that 80s magazine OMNI?
Science, tech, sci-fi, Mensa-caliber games… by the very same Bob Guccione who published Penthouse!

Every issue had an in-depth interview with a prominent and interesting scientist, figures like Alan Guth or Luc Montagnier or Morris Berman.
One issue was a little more off-beat, the interview was with an anthropologist, whose student life and career went like this:

Attending the University Of Montana in Missoula, this student loved drinking every day, so he asked the question - “What’s a relatively easy major with little math, that will interfere the least with my drinking?” - and landed on Anthropology.

After graduation, the next question became - “What will I do my thesis about?” - a friend gave him the vague advice to do it on something he knew or was passionate about, and like a “eureka” moment, it hit him: “I’m gonna research drinking culture, bars!”

And so, he became one of the rarefied few for whom drinking on the job was basically a requirement!
