They just took all the current best practices at the time (high quality machine curated data sets, MoE architecture, etc) and did them as fully and rigorously as possible

It’s not like they invented chain of thought/Large Reasoning Model or state-space or anything new at all

sounds… hot

There’s a Sean Carrol video somewhere talking about how the average graduate student in physics understands Relativity far better than Einstein did, and it’s because lots of people with lots of different specialties and insights have thought really long and hard about it and come up with deeper, more elegant ways to describe it.

I try to bear Old Isaac in mind when I meet arrogant and unpleasant but intelligent teens.

It’s very easy as an adult to be very annoyed by them, short with them, and/or to feel an obligation in some way to “socialize them better”

But you don’t know which of them have an insight in their brain that unlocks the proverbial Warp Drive.

Mobile apps are an abomination

I remember the 90’s. I remember the entire Internet being a hair’s breadth from being owned by Microsoft. I remember how fucking much work it was to create OPEN STANDARDS so that any website can be viewed with any browser.

There was never a good reason for native apps. Even less so once HTML5 got styles and vid support.

TBH I chose Funkwhale for my solution because it looked easy and out of the box, I just add a single Docker and subdomain to my existing site.

It wound up being more or less what you describe.

I may well follow OP’s guide and nuke my Funkwhale despite the work I put into it and the fact that it does basically work for its intended purpose

Question: did you consider Funkwhale , and if so why did you choose this other stack instead?
