Dead or Alive :(

I don’t hate the idea. There is already a lot of reddit content reposted on Lemmy.

Hmm that’s an interesting application.

Here is another that generates images through walls: https://arxiv.org/html/2401.17417v2
I assume the colors are just due to hallucinations of their neural nets and training data sets being very similar to the validation sets.
This could really hurt their claims. If it’s over trained so much that it is guessing the color this well then who’s to say that random CSI packets wouldn’t still produce a decent image?

Im having a hard time understanding how good these images are. How is wifi data able to determine color?

This is great. I know it’s symbolic but I have higher hope than before that these countries may meaningfully oppose the US and Israel’s genocide.

Great video. I had not know much of the history including the Mozilla origins.

Yeah, it included links to the results and it seems like a really healthy/realistic perspective on the research.

Wow, very cool project. It’s interesting that some everyday items don’t change that much across wide ranges of income, like cups, or front doors.
I want a game where I guess the income based on only a certain aspect, to see how off I am

Tl;dr humans often explain it wrong so it should be no big surprise that chat-GPT got it wrong.

The first bullet makes the world more equal, the second bullet makes the world less equal.
I very much agree on higher taxes.

I don’t see immigration as the problem. A bigger problem in my eyes is that while native workers take lower salaries, the companies get bigger profit margins.
So my concern is the upper class continuing to run away with the wealth, as they have been since the 1970s.

Seems well written. Lots of references.
Maybe not the most meaningful but quite interesting:
In perhaps the most eerie parallel yet between the US in 2025 and 1930s-era Germany, the Trump administration has severed the subscriptions of several government agencies to journals owned by Springer Nature, one of the world’s most successful and prestigious scientific publishing groups. At least two agencies, the Department of Energy and the Department of Agriculture, are terminating all such contracts, criticizing their politics as “woke” and “corrupt.” This echoes a ban of that very same publisher, and their flagship journal Nature, from all German libraries beginning in 1937 and lasting through the end of World War II.

I was really optimistic about this tax, but if one of the largest economies gets an exemption then it kinda defeats the point.

Good read.
It’s a bummer to see AI gobbling up entire books and often misrepresenting them but then IA can’t provide the source material.
