Some Android recovery menu tools and options are being removed in the latest Samsung Galaxy updates, but the reason is unclear.

For anyone wondering: this is about sideloading system updates, not apps. So don’t get your knickers in a twist. (That kind of fuckery will arrive through Google, if they get their will.)

Well, without sideloading android is wildly inferior to iOS. Hopefully this pushes people to Linux phones, and then we can get some decent phones.

Like people to develop them or do they already exist?

The exist but they kinda suck. Needs more demand.

Kind of like a field of dreams thing…

You need something viable for there to be demand.

There are options, but locking a person into an ecosystem is more profitable. Pinephone is a good option, but it won’t work in all countries.

Ultimately, someone needs to gut android for anything salvageable, shove it into Linux, and provide a compatibility layer for android apps.

But, mass support won’t be there. Like, TikTok won’t build an app for Linux. It needs mainstream apps to work.
