The logic behind the sentence given out sounds like a fucking late night infomercial. Also, who just leaves their car running in the street with the keys in the ignition?
Was it dumb to leave their kid in the car alone with it running? Yes. Extremely. But that doesn’t mean they deserve to have their car stolen and child abducted. That’s victim-blaming right there.
Whilst I agree.
Victim blaming is wrong…but. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice.
A key point in this; Two adults left the car. Why could one not stay?
I have left my sleeping infant in the car whilst ducking into the supermarket. But the car is in a car park, locked and not running. If it is really hot; you park in the shade and leave the window cracked; you walk the extra 50m to get that park. All of this is only in the event I was alone, if both parents were there one would always stay!
I’ve never left them. The risk is small but it’s not 0. I figure just take your kids with you.
Risk/reward ratio for small town New Zealand is something I take into account when making decisions to wake a sleeping baby.
Oh yes, that’s a good point location matters. I was in a big city in the USA, more to fear there for sure.
But that doesn’t mean they deserve to have their car stolen and child abducted.
Never said they did, that’s a very malicious way to interpret what I said.
