Sort of relaxed, slow-paced, not a ton of plot.

Schitt’s Creek
Corner Gas
Painting/Fishing with John
Father Ted
Cosmos by Carl Sagan. It a science miniseries that I love dearly, but it’s like video Quaaludes.
Modern family.
It’s just funny enough to be entertaining and has some loose plot that’s fine to follow. Easily forgettable, but great for throwing on. Also, it’s cool to watch the kids on that show grow up over its 10 year run.
Community
Parks and rec
Are others I would toss on for easy to watch. Although community and P&R hide a TON of jokes that make it even funnier if you pay attention.
Animal Control is like if Community had a baby with Parks and Rec.
Detectorists
i loved this one lots.
Early Doors is another one I recommend to people who like Detectorists. Another slow burn, slice of life show. Definitely worth checking out :)
I hadn’t heard of this one, I’ll have to add it to my list. Thanks for the rec!
Joe Pera Talks With You
Ultimate example.
Northern Exposure is an amazing and very gentle show, if you can handle 90s tv.
Watch it on Amazon or the music wont make sense
I’ve always had a soft spot for this show, but I haven’t seen it in years.
Man how has no one said Friends? That’s basically a white noise machine on loop for our house.
white noise

j/k. I miss when Friends were still coming out with new episodes. Those were less complicated days.
Basically any sitcom made for TV and not a streaming service.
Dead Like Me is fairly slow, but really interesting. Same with Coupling. Two great shows.
I found Frieren to be quite slow, in a good way, but i think there are better options out there that i’m unaware of.
I gotta throw Scrubs in the ring here. Skip season 9.
Rewatching Malcolm in the middle, has a lot of the same comedy style, I’m willing to bet same writers. Good shit all around.
Burn Notice Royal Pains
Basically anything made during the heyday of USANetwork. “Dramas” without intensity.
Good answer. Some of the comedies that have been mentioned have a lot of subtle stuff going on that really require your attention (they’re mostly still good if you’re not paying attention, though). The USA stuff was pure fluff. Much of it was actually kind of boring if you paid attention!
The IT Crowd, and Black Books.
IT crowd is neat.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
No. What did I miss?
Season 3, episode 2 I believe.
ARE YOU STRESSED?
Kim’s Convenience.
Any hallmark channel original content is like white noise for your brain. If you like to have something on in the background but want to have absolutely no stake in the content it’s a good choice.
We throw on bobs burgers or American dad on random for background stuff sometimes. Works well. Scrubs and the office the same
Letterkenny. Mostly character driven
