    pretty sure my entire steam is default…do people actually buy those things and use em? seems … pointless

    well now it seems dangerous actually

      This isn’t steam wallpapers, it’s Windows wallpapers for the Wallpaper Engine application distributed via Steam Workshop.

        Yeah, I used to use it a long time ago when I was still on windows (supposedly it also works on Linux though).

        Iirc you can distribute wallpapers on wallpaper engine as arbitrary JavaScript or just an executable, so this news doesn’t surprise me at all.

          Yeah, it’s the ‘Application’ wallpapers which are the attack vector here.

          Hardly surprising that malware peeps would be all over it

      There’s no other use for points besides giving out reddit awards. You get them from any purchase so might as well use them.
      But also the article doesn’t talk about points shop items.
