With this and the GPU reset handling, it looks like it’s not just ReactOS that’s starting to catch up with Vista

you gotta admit the phoronix comment section can do ok sometimes.

but blur does look pretty good on gnome with blur-my-shell, a good official implementation would make it look finished and refined ootb, imo.

Lately I mostly see only minor improvements when I hear about Gnome updates.

I mean, I like quality of life improvements, but is it me or the project is becoming stagnant over time?

I’d call it „mature“. It has its design language and it works. I don’t think GNOME users want some revolution. If we would, we could just move to another environment like Plasma.

While thats true, feature suport is still nice to get. Like last I heard there isnt HDR, though maybe I missed that being added.

And we still need the ability to change trackpad scroll speed, which has been in limbo for forever

HDR is in, has been in KDE and Gnome for a while now.

Fair enough on TrackPad scroll speed.

Other than that though, what other features do you believe Gnome is missing?

Less of a feature but a major fix in my eyes is the software store not refreshing the view constantly while you’re trying to do stuff. From what I understand its not an easy fix though, and is a product of how something is built on the backend or something 🤷🏻‍♂️

they are building bazaar to replace/fix it. at least that’s what it looks like from previous instances.

you can install it now through flatpak and it’s working really well. fixes all of the MANY issues with gnome software and it’s quite a breeze to use.

Depends on what your using/how its set up.

GNOMEs native password manager “Passwords and Keys” has the opportunity to store the Browsers Keyring. So if you store passwords in Firefox/Chrome they get stored in Passwords and Keys (and then auto gilled in the browser).

KeePassXC has a Browser plugin, as long a your password databases is unlocked it will autofill inside the Browser.

Its Linux, so there is not one solution and it won’t simply work across all apps.
