I totally agree. I also think that the whole field since the 80s should be studied in social science as a masterclass in how corporate interests can influence public discourse and government policy to achieve outcomes that benefit business at the expense of people and the environment.

Indeed; opioids are not really much of an issue here in NZ. Our government is not as captured by the pharma industry.
