I’m shocked! Shocked I tell you!
I met a woman at an airport bar at LaGuardia in 2017, and after talking to her for a bit I learned she was a lesbian and then subsequently a Trump voter and supporter. I’m a cis straight white guy and the sentence “oh no I fuck women but I voted Trump because I care about my money” still makes me want to wretch 9 years later.
For every moment where I feel a sense of solidarity emerging in the general US population I hear someone say that a VP of an oil and gas company is just ‘looking out for their family’ or something else equally bootlicker. I’m legit worried that even this nightmare reality hasn’t been enough to wake most people from their cognitive dissonance
They would rather stand by and let people 3 places ahead of them in line get the rope than just get on side and save themelves with the rest of us for 5 goddamn minutes.
Yeah, this is very “Sure I’m in the firing line, but I negotiated with the executioner to make sure there are enough people in front of me that they run out of bullets before they get to me.”
Rather than work with others to resist and overthrow the systems of oppression, they think they’ll land on the safe side of the purge quota. But then the fascists come back with another box of ammo.
