He was 32 when that picture was taken. He is 93 now. When I was born, he was already well into his third marriage. Ancient people freak me out.

    Never imagined him being in a suit outside of a funeral, but I guess it was expected at the time. Funny how we’ve gone full circle back into a similar control-freak dominated period, only instead of growing the US is in serious decline.

      This was just before the outlaw days. Then he started hanging out with Blaze and Townes, growing his hair long, and smoking them left-handed cigarettes.

      The Nashville establishment didn’t know what to do with him and tried to make him a Countrypolitan crooner. They did the same with Waylon Jennings.

        Yup. The Grand Ole Opry and the Nashville establishment had the world of country music by the balls. Willie’s career became defined by his opposition to those creeps.
