Workers and industry experts are calling on the Australian Taxation Office to be more proactive in responding to unpaid superannuation claims.

The ATO says it is serious about ensuring employers are paying super.

Time to be vigilant,

That shouldn’t be possible, but since the majority of Australians have their superannuation invested with funds that directly fund fossil fuel, weapons, tobacco, gambling etc, I find it difficult to care that they are being ripped off.

invested with funds that directly fund fossil fuel, weapons, tobacco, gambling etc

Plenty of super funds have the option for investors to selectively avoid such avenues. Some funds make it their whole thing to be for the greater good. But even in my super fund my money is directed towards “green” investments only, not just because that’s a good thing to do, but because that investment category is getting decent returns due to - well, all the shit going on globally.

I find it difficult to care that they are being ripped off.

So you’d rather their employers retain that money fraudulently and workers lose the option to do some good with that money entirely? Care to try and explain that line of reasoning logically?

People who choose to look the other way while their money is used to fund obviously bad things, do not deserve good things. Ignorance in such matters is a really hard sell these days.

Consumer and voter apathy are frequently ignored these days, it is a significant, and very deliberate issue with social media… ‘oh those billionaires and politicians are so horrible’ (chant the people funding and voting for them).

Far too few Australians choose to use ethical superannuation, just as far too few Australians choose not to use the big 4 dirty banks.
