It would be enough if there were (once again) reasonable top tax rates and if monopolies were broken up. The situation we find ourselves in today is a direct consequence of deregulation dating back to the 1980s.
There is nothing political extremist about basing one’s views on reality.
Those are actually pretty good views how society should work. I would even vote for you. But what makes it extreme is when you start suggesting our side has to balance the other extreme by going to the same extreme measures. You go from “killing is bad, they do it so they are bad” to “killing is OK as long as we do it to them”. You lost the part about avoiding killing, entered a slippery slope and tomorrow you are killing every dissident under the sun. That’s how every dictatorship starts and we should educate ourselves about it and limit ourselves to the bare minimum what is necessary to go back to a well regulated society. Locking up overly aggressive billionaires? Sure. Calling for their beheading? Should be a nono.
I didn’t say anything of the sort, and I never would, since I reject political violence. I’m simply saying that there shouldn’t be any billionaires, since the concentration of too much power in a single place is clearly harmful to a fair and free society. This is by no means a call for violence—you’re reading that into my statement.
Maybe, if so I apologize. Lemmy is kind of a toxic place most times. Lots of incel like behavior mixed with leftist ideology. Makes you expect the worst of people here. Business people fulfill an important role in society. They take the risks and resulting losses that everyday people are unable or unwilling to take. They do that based on the potential upside from owning the business they create. Limiting that is a dangerous gamble because it might stifle innovation and there are already declining numbers of people that are ready to take and carry societal risk. I’m all for taxing rich people, but it has to deny people getting too powerful while enabling people to get wealthy enough to take care of anybody they care about for a few generations at least.
In a system that considers Medicare For All, abolishing ICE, vehemently opposing genocide, and decreasing funding for the most bloated military in the history of mankind “extreme”, there absolutely HAS to be “extremists” on the end of the spectrum not currently in government.

Private power is what needs to be capped, across all forms.
There simply shouldn’t be political extremists. But here we go again. Maybe suggest a guillotine while you are at it.

Why are you saying it as if it were a bad thing?
Guillotine for the billionaire, please!
