I’m sure it’s just paranoia and I don’t have any proof but I’ve long gotten the vibe that installing Graphene on your Google brand phone is basically running HoneyPot OS. A bunch of banking apps simultaneously white listing Graphene does not help
You don’t have proof because it’s not what’s happening. The theory also doesn’t explain why GrapheneOS is currently not supporting 11th gen Pixels because they don’t meet the requirements and future Motorola device support. Also not sure how Google == honeypot. Pixels (not the 11th gens yet) have been the only devices to meet the requirements for years now.
I don’t trust Google, I don’t trust GrapheneOS, I don’t care if it’s just paranoia. All of it gives me bad vibes and I lose nothing listening to my gut
Also I think we might have very different impressions of Google’s place in the world. In the world I live in Google invades your privacy and facilitates mass spying and surveillance on behalf of the US government, corporations, and advertisers. I wouldn’t trust Google with anything I wanted private ever, hardware or software
I’ve had that vibe about Signal for years now and anything they do always seems to give them a way to remove anonymity. The current US administration using it certainly doesn’t reflect well on it.
On the other hand, I don’t think GOS is subverted, there’s a good enough number of govt’s that have it on their shit list that I think it’s probably clean.
Signal is 100% a honey pot and that has been obvious for years. I don’t even try and warn people anymore, they don’t care. It’s even worse than security theater. I had bad vibes about it before I got confirmation it was a trap, the same kinda bad vibes Graphene gives me
Like I said I don’t know enough to say it’s anything other than paranoia but I’ve gotten nothing but sketch vibes from Graphene the entire I’ve known about it.
My banking app works but I don’t even know if my bank knows about Graphene. For a bit jt stopped working then came back.
I was actually surprised the list is pretty long. If you use a well known bank, they’re likely already there.
