The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one. Nothing new though, one of the leaders of my country’s main far right party is a lesbian woman who is in a relationship with a “brown person” (Alice Weidel, AfD party, Germany).

In fascism, hypocrisy is a common form of demonstrating your power within society. That’s how you display, that rules don’t apply to you, only protecting you.

Sorry, a bit unrelated to the main topic of the article but…

“It is wrong to pardon individuals convicted of violent crime, especially when many of the victims of their violence were law enforcement officers,”

What the fuck does “especially when many of the victims of their violence were law enforcement officers” mean? Is it more OK to attack civilians then?

Yes. Law enforcement officers are enforcers of capitalist oppression and thus more worthy than common proletarian scum.

yes, in the U.S. hurting or killing a cop generally results in the full power of the state being leveraged against you

people can be killed every day in gun violence, but the one time a man on a run ended up shooting a cop when trying to get away, suddenly the radio is giving updates on the situation and memorials are being held and state officials are taking an interest in a local shooting, etc.
