Depends. With North American formica ants, it’s formic acid, but with Canadian odorous house ants, it’s a methyl ketone that smells a lot like blue cheese.

3·1 month agoReally cool. It’s crazy how vivid the colors are on packaging that’s almost 100 years old when its been protected from the sun the whole time.
This was at the first one. The last one they had was 2018, before the fire performance group that was putting it on split up and went their separate ways. Some of them still do events like the Jerry Jam, but they bill themselves as “fire performers and strippers” now. Not really my scene anymore.

Kinda? I’d almost describe it as halfway between stinky feet and the smell that stink bugs give off.
