Probably my favorite short story. This is another one of my favorites, definitely more obscure:
What the fuck is this data trying to say?
I mean Windows 11 can do annoying things, but it’s not gibberish. Reminds me of XP to Vista, but less about performance issues and more about incessant GUI tweaks no one asked for.
I’d say update it and make do, then move to Linux down the road if it annoys you enough to motivate that decision.
It’s not all bad, I am enjoying the HDR features, which is the only reason I updated before the Win10 EOL.
That said, I do plan on making a Linux VM and playing around to get a feel for it.
1·7 months agoI mean I bought my first gun because of what’s going on. Revolutions and wars have often been fought by only a few percent of a population. Most people work jobs and keep society plugging along while shit is done by a few.
You sound pretty flippant with people’s lives, why don’t you go grab a gun and suicide into an armed force for great justice? There’s a difference when you’re backed into a corner. If they’re at MY door, what else can be done but defend my life with my life? Hope I don’t get deported to a gulag without due process? Hope that court orders are obeyed when they haven’t been?
Other than that, I’ll wait until there’s an actual organized resistance than suicide by cop as a martyr. I have people I’m responsible for.
If people that looked like this showed up at my door, they’d be looking down the barrel of a shotgun. These morons are going to get shot.
I just had a Plex server die on me because I dared to use ReFS and storage spaces 10 years ago.
The performance uplift I got moving to Proxmox and ZFS filesystem was STUPID. And way more stable.
Lots more command line stuff, but in the age of AI assistants and things I don’t feel that hampered by my lack of syntax knowledge.
Obviously this is about a server though, not my gaming rig with is still on W11. But that’s said Steam has moved things along to a point where I feel like gaming on Linux is within reach.
