On top of what everyone else has said, when you visit the different feeds (Local, All, etc) you can set your sorting to Scaled so you are not completely overwhelmed with lowest common denominator stuff, and it will open up some options as you’ll see some smaller communities with niche interests.

This old game called Squarez Deluxe.

I know it’s old, I know it has low resolution, I know it doesn’t meet the standard of modern gaming, but it’s (in my view obviously) the best shape packing game ever made.

Like destroys Tetris… Which can’t even hold a candle to this game. Not to say that Tetris is a bad game, it’s a brilliant game!

I just think Squarez Deluxe takes it to the next level and gives so much room for player creativity.

The basic just is that you have a play field, and with a short timer for each, you are given blocks which can be various 9x9 shapes that you rotate and move freely on the grid and place at will.

All of the complexity comes from the special blocks which can have positive, negative, or in between effects.

Your positive tools are scarce, but if you use them creatively and with forward probabilistic thinking, you can have amazing, hour-long sessions that you cannot look away from.

Some of the special blocks are goo traps that explode so shapes that pass by get stuck. Some are acid that let you destroy blocks at will and you can form your pieces into very unique shapes that tuck in exactly where you need them.

There are bombs, mines, missiles, playfield expanders/contractors, etc.

The first two modes get you acquainted with the mechanics, but Extreme Mode is where the game is played.

The original developer is a cool dude and he changed it to freeware so you can grab DOSBox and hit myabandonware or archive and be playing like in minutes.

This is such a small way of looking at things.

The best thing you can do is live according to your ethics and values. By setting an example.

Putting a sticker on says hey… you behave this way.

Take the plastic housing off of an upright column fan and turn it into an air blade.

I’m not joking, I have done this. It provides an amazing laminar (non turbulent) column of air that is so refreshing.

It is now freeware, it’s available on DOSBox, and it is the best shape-packing game ever made - you cannot even debate me once you try it.

Same thing for me in Canada.

You cannot seriously buy into all of the values that Canada, as a country, has demonstrated for the last several hundred years.

You have to be the biggest ignoramus in the world to ignore how many social problems Canada (as an entity) is responsible for and fails to address in a meaningful ongoing way.

I find people who broadcast their ethical positions rarely live by them. Being ethical is a series of decisions on how you act, not what you tell people.

I watched a woman who represented herself as being a food expert, who also recommended extra virgin olive oil for all cooking purposes, especially where it was not suitable as the smoke point of the oil is out of alignment with the cooking needs of the other ingredients.

I mourn for billions and billions of olives wasted in food that must, by the rules of cooking, be bad. And for the hundreds of millions of people who have been wrongly informed by someone who’s celebrity gimmick overwhelms their technical ability.
