everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls, New York/Ontario3·4 days agoAbsolutely, I’d seen plenty of pictures before, but just seeing that much water move is really wild.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls, New York/Ontario2·4 days agoHell yeah! I was with my mom, who is very much not into heights. Struggled even looking over the railing when on the American side haha.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls, New York/Ontario2·5 days agoI’m dumb haha, corrected.

everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Watkins Glen- North Rim, Finger Lakes and Gorge Loop, Watkins Glen, NY3·6 days agoYeah, as the other poster said, there are several really great locations around the state. Surprising amount of farmland as well.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Buttermilk Falls/Lake Treman Loop via Gorge, Bear and Rim Trail, Buttermilk Falls State Park, Ithaca, NY [OC]2·7 days agoHell yeah and great pun!
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Buttermilk Falls/Lake Treman Loop via Gorge, Bear and Rim Trail, Buttermilk Falls State Park, Ithaca, NY [OC]3·7 days agoI went on a Friday morning (i think about 8am start) and there weren’t many people. As I left it was getting a little busy and from what i understand, it can get packed. I think the pool at the bottom of the falls has swimming in season as well. If you’re in the general area, give it a week or two, whenever the leaves pop, and it’ll be awesome. And probably packed haha.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Pulpit Rock and The Pinnacle Loop, Appalachian Trail, Hamburg, PA2·9 days agoAwesome, great place to make memories!.. If there was a cave I think I missed it. There was a small side spur that went to a little boulder outcrop that I couldn’t figure out what the deal with it was, so it definitely could have been what was there and I missed it.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Pulpit Rock and The Pinnacle Loop, Appalachian Trail, Hamburg, PA3·9 days agoIf its that short merge that you’re talking about, yeah it is. Surprised the hell out of me. Glad the truck saw me and got over in time because I had no clue it was so short.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Pulpit Rock and The Pinnacle Loop, Appalachian Trail, Hamburg, PA6·9 days agoHaha, yeah wrong pulpit rock for this hike, also the pinnacle was nit the highest point on the hike, but what can you do. Great pic!!
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Ricketts Glen Falls Loop, Sweet Valley, PA [OC]1·9 days agoCan’t post raw files on here, and I’m sure as hell not putting any effort into it after your insulting comment. Thanks for the critique, I’ll work on being better and hopefully one day will meet your standards.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Ricketts Glen Falls Loop, Sweet Valley, PA [OC]1·9 days agoHaha, yeah it’s always so funny seeing ‘falls’ like that. Like, ‘no that’s a riffle, but you do you.’ I’m pretty sure I made it over to Britton Hill (Florida’s high point at 346 ft and lower than Miami skyscrapers for any unaware) when I was a kid. But then y’all have things like manatee springs and big cypress which are so cool in their own right.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Ricketts Glen Falls Loop, Sweet Valley, PA [OC]2·10 days agoHa, get ready for a few more you’ve done then! Was headed towards Ithaca after this, which was such a pretty area. Did Lucifer falls, Buttermilk falls and Watkins glen nearby. Was staying at Taughannock falls state, but somehow managed to not find the time to hike it like a dummy while there. They’ll be showing up in a day or two.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Appalachian Trail- Stairway to Heaven and Pochuck Valley, Glenwood, NJ [OC]2·11 days agoHaha, yeah I had a joke setup in my head that never quite played out. You know famous jersey rockers Def Leppard,
More than a feeling,
I keep believin’
As I climb the stairway to heaven
Doo doo di 🎶
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Appalachian Trail- Stairway to Heaven and Pochuck Valley, Glenwood, NJ [OC]1·11 days agoI was headed north as well, so yeah hit the boardwalk/marsh first, then the bridge (although that bridge pic is actually on the return) before the stairway and returning.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Appalachian Trail- Stairway to Heaven and Pochuck Valley, Glenwood, NJ [OC]2·13 days agoHaha, hell yeah!
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPto pics@lemmy.world•Appalachian Trail- Stairway to Heaven and Pochuck Valley, Glenwood, NJ [OC]5·13 days agoIts a fun one for sure, and a good mix of sights along the way. Stairs get your heart going, but its very forgiving. I’d imagine if you can get the fall leaves change, the view up top would be fantastic (also probably for sunset).
Yeah, the downtown was a cool mix of old and new (although driving a transit van through it was less than enjoyable haha). Probably won’t end up posting it, but the geology museum at the university (5th largest uni in Canada I believe) was pretty cool as well.
