Me and my dad took a trip down to Friedrichshafen, and took a flight on a Zeppelin NT airship.
Ot was damned expensive, but seeing as computer hardware just keeps getting more expensive, the airship ride of 90min cost only slightly less than two 8TB hard drives.
Everything about the airship makes it clear that it is a different concept than an airline.
Take boarding for example:
This is not done as an airplane.
We were on the first tour of the day, and the boarding process was a bit unusual, the passengers are grouped into pairs, they are then allowed to board two at a time.
This is done to allow the ground crew time to remove sacks of ballast from the ship as you are boarding.
Then on landing the process was slightly different yet again.
This time the ship exchanged passengers.
It worked like this, first two new pax came aboard, then two of us got off, and so on.
I did indeed have fun.
