Incidentally, reading speeches from George Bush Jr in 2026 really recalibrates my expectations for the country long-term. So easy to forget that this guy was an utterly brainless, dry-drunk, failson bigot, after his reputation got glazed through the Obama/Trump Era.
For added context, Keyes wasn’t from the state. The republican party brought him in just to run against Obama. Like they wanted to say they had a black guy too.

So while He didn’t win the vote, that was never the goal. The same way it’s never the goal to win the vote for any novelty joke candidate.
