Most of the time I see these handmade soaps at a display I pick one up to smell it, and it is instantly amazing. For a second it makes me wish we had Smell-o-Vision monitors, but then someone would just find a way to dutch oven the rest of us and I realize afresh what a truly shitty idea that is. But I’d have it for your soaps.

    Well done, OP.

Thank you, that’s so kind of you to say! They all smell wonderful and I try my best to describe the scents in the listings 😊

I wonder if there are there any active fediverse communities where people share their handmade works they make like this. I’d love it if you kept posting your work.

I’ve always wanted to try to make soup. I do lots of crafting including lotions and salves. Is it easy? Is it fun?

Fun, yes! Easy can depend on lots of factors. Soap making, at least cold process soap (which is what I do) is just as much a science as it is an art. You work with lye which is caustic and can be very dangerous if handled recklessly. Adding the lye to the water (never the other way around or it’ll quite literally explode) causes it to heat up to nearly 200F (close to 100C) so that’s something to be cautious about, as well as the soap batter (created by blending the lye water with oils) can irritate and even burn the skin.

I see it like cooking. You can make your own recipes, but like baking the measurements must be precise. As long as you take proper safety precautions it can be very easy and fun! If working with lye is a little too intimidating, melt and pour soap may be more your thing. Hope that helps!

        You work with lye

Oh, so this is like, real soap. Not the synthetic detergent bars that we typically call soap.

These, and the ones in the comments, look freaking magnificent!
    I very much like it!

Though, Etsy does not open at the location I am at at this moment at works, in Europe, Asia, giving “HTTP 403 Forbidden” (possibly due to regional restrictions), it’s dear awesome to know you do such a lovely art…

Thank you heartfelt… for the real marvel, art you do…
