I will happily concede that I’ve probably only had bad, cheap stuff.

I imagine Turkish Delight to basically be baklava. Am I wrong? Anyone?

It’s more like an unpleasant squishy gummy.

if it’s squishy, than it’s not well made. It must rather be like a cloud of rose dissolving in your mouth

but who am i to judge, my favorite is this ☞ tete-brulee-barre-cola

          or rather this ☞ pomme

This looks completely unlike any supposed Turkish delight I’ve ever seen.

    The internet lied to me.

Maybe Turkish delights as opposed to Turkish Delight? These are all different Turkish confections; only one of them looks to be lokum (aka Turkish Delight).

Yeah, nobody in Turkey buys those cubes. The log style are absolutely delicious.

Who eats Lokum then? The red and white cubes, I mean?

A lot of people. They’re served very commonly with coffee. Very rarely red, though. Mostly they’re small white cubes with either pistachios or hazelnuts in them.

The tube looking ones are a more fancier type. I would not say they’re more common than the cubes, though. The “nobody buys those cubes” thing is an absolutely wild statement, honestly.

The only Turkish delight I’ve ever had was terrible. Far too bitter…

Should I try again or is it truly a bitter gelatinous treat?

Edit: It is now my life’s mission to try real Turkish delight.

Forget the gelatin cubes. They’re terrible. Get the ones that look like logs.

You should 10000% try it again from Turkey. That twaddle sold by Fry’s is hot garbage imho.

There is an absolute glut of terrible Turkish delight out there. I don’t know why. Someone decided with a name like that perhaps you could sell someone anything and they would buy it? Try some at a really good Turkish restaurant or ask a Turkish friend to hook you up. If you just randomly try some again, chances are it will be awful again.
